The time it takes to groom a dog depends on multiple factors. The dog’s size, coat type, coat density, coat length, temperament all contribute to the duration of the groom.
A confident dog that is used to grooming can be groomed quickly and safely, while an anxious dog that is afraid of grooming needs to be groomed with extra care (& time!).
By charging according to the duration of the groom, prices are fair to each individual dog. For example, a small dog that is used to the high velocity dryer can be fully dried in 20 minutes, but if the dog is afraid, we have to use a small handheld dryer to reduce stress and dry the dog safely, while taking up to double the time.
The groom is charged to the nearest 15 minute. Desheds cost $75/hour while all other services are $65/hour.
Nope! We are a one-on-one dog grooming service in which your pup will be in the groomer’s safe hands from drop off to pick up. This is a great grooming experience for all dogs, especially dogs who do not cope well with busy salons. Some dogs struggle with anxiety when kept in a holding crate or pen while waiting their turn to be groomed. Other dogs are reactive to other dogs and Eden Pet Salon is a good solution for them!
We do our best to minimise appointment overlaps but sometimes a late pick up/drop off may result in dogs meeting each other.
Whenever we reserve a time slot for a client, that time slot is no longer able to be booked by any other clients. When there are no-shows, it significantly hurts the business as no revenue can be gained during that pre-booked slot. Cancelling an appointment less than 24 hours before the groom makes it incredibly difficult to fill the slot as well.
A No Show/Late Cancellation fee only covers the cost of operating the business during those hours.
We do not accept walk-ins and only run by appointments. If you would like an appointment outside these hours, please contact us at bookings@edenpetsalon.com
In addition to real salon experience, our groomer, Clarabelle, has gone through Dog Diversity Dog Grooming School’s intensive dog grooming course. Dog Diversity is Melbourne’s premier dog grooming school that sets high industry standards for the dog grooming industry. Clarabelle is also set to complete Heiniger Academy’s Cert III In Animal Care Services (Pet Grooming) by July 2024!
Our groomer, Clarabelle, will work with you to create a plan that will hopefully help your dog learn to accept and maybe even enjoy the grooming process. Sometimes, the plan involves first allowing Clarabelle and your pup to establish a trusting relationship with each other before slowly introducing the various aspects of grooming. It is not an easy process, but it has been done before where a dog under Clarabelle’s care has successfully accepted the grooming process! Please contact us directly at bookings@edenpetsalon.com or via SMS if you have a special case. We will get back to you as soon as possible.
I learnt this from the beautiful trainers at Dog Diversity Dog Grooming School in Seddon, Victoria.
Humanity Over Vanity fundamentally prioritises the well-being and compassion for your pup above profit or good-looks. This means that we judge ourselves based on what the dog thinks of the grooming process - Was it stressful? Was it painful? Do I feel better after the groom? Is my coat and fur in a better condition?
One example of Humanity Over Vanity in action is how Eden Pet Salon refuses to demat a matted coat via brushing or a matt-breaker. Some knots/mats are so tight that while brushing it out is certainly possible and the pup may end up with longer fur all over their body, it is an extremely stressful and painful process. Not only that, it damages the coat and makes the coat more prone to matting again. It is far more humane to clip out or scissor out the matting, and allow the skin and coat to heal and regrow.
